Armenia’s FX market on October 7: Central Bank summary
Armenian banks and credit organisations bought about $41.3 million and sold about $43.7 million on October 7.
According to the Central Bank of Armenia, the weighted average dollar buying rate was AMD 361.19 and the selling rate AMD 362.91. On the interbank* market, $500,000 was bought and sold at AMD 362.20.
Euro transactions totalled about €7.2 million in purchases and €10.1 million in sales. The average buying rate was AMD 403.74 and the selling rate AMD 409.94. On the interbank market, €500,000 was sold at AMD 405.
On the same day, about 1.66 billion roubles were bought at an average rate of AMD 4.17, and 656.5 million roubles were sold at AMD 4.26. On the interbank market, 450 million roubles were bought and sold at AMD 4.22.
Purchases of other currencies totalled AMD 142.4 million (about $393,000) in dram terms, and sales AMD 409.3 million.
In-house purchase transactions of banks and credit organisations totalled AMD 24.90 billion, and sales AMD 23.21 billion. Interbank purchases amounted to AMD 2.08 billion and sales AMD 2.28 billion.
Foreign currency bought by credit organisations totalled AMD 1.12 billion in dram terms, and currency sold AMD 1.33 billion.
Intrabank and interbank transactions, September 24 to October 7
Banks and credit organisations. There were no interbank dollar transactions on October 5 and 6, and no interbank rouble transactions on October 6. Interbank euro transactions took place on October 6 (purchases and sales) and October 7 (sales only).
From September 21 to 27, exchange offices bought $17.0 million and sold $18.8 million. The average dollar buying rate ranged from AMD 360.25 to 361.23, and the selling rate from AMD 362.92 to 363.55.
Euro transactions totalled €4.49 million in purchases and €4.78 million in sales. The average selling rate ranged from AMD 412.88 to 417.19.
Over the week, exchange offices bought 986 million Russian roubles and sold 593 million roubles. The rouble ranged between AMD 4.02 and 4.14.
Transactions in other currencies totalled AMD 232.7 million in purchases and AMD 221.4 million in sales in dram terms.
