Armenia’s FX market on October 22: Central Bank summary
Armenian banks and credit organisations bought about $29 million and sold about $34.7 million on October 22.
According to the Central Bank of Armenia, the weighted average dollar buying rate was AMD 360.21 and the selling rate AMD 362.46. On the interbank* market, $1.5 million was bought and sold at AMD 361.25.
Euro transactions totalled about €7.46 million in purchases and €9.74 million in sales. The average buying rate was AMD 402.84 and the selling rate AMD 408.86. There were no euro transactions on the interbank market.
On the same day, about 1.44 billion roubles were bought at an average rate of AMD 4.30, and 394.8 million roubles were sold at AMD 4.44. There were no rouble transactions on the interbank market.
Purchases of other foreign currencies totalled AMD 295.1 million (about $817 thousand) in dram terms, and sales AMD 394.4 million.
In-house purchase transactions of banks and credit organisations totalled AMD 19.92 billion, and sales AMD 18.72 billion. Interbank purchases and sales each amounted to AMD 541.9 million.
Foreign currency bought by credit organisations totalled AMD 1.17 billion in dram terms, and currency sold AMD 999.5 million.
Intrabank and interbank transactions, October 9 to 22
Banks and credit organisations. There were no interbank dollar transactions on October 9, 12, 14, 16, 19 and 20. There were no interbank euro transactions during the period, and no interbank rouble transactions on October 22.
From October 5 to 11, exchange offices bought $15.3 million and sold $18 million. The average dollar buying rate ranged from AMD 357.74 to 360.20, and the selling rate from AMD 360.82 to 362.46.
Exchange offices bought €4.14 million and sold €4.99 million. The average selling rate ranged from AMD 405.23 to 406.90.
Over the week, exchange offices bought 1.05 billion Russian roubles and sold 613.9 million roubles. The rouble ranged between AMD 4.01 and 4.09.
Transactions in other currencies totalled AMD 245.5 million in purchases and AMD 221.5 million in sales in dram terms.
