Armenia’s FX market on September 25: Central Bank summary
Armenian banks and credit organisations bought more than $35.4 million and sold more than $58 million on September 25.
According to the Central Bank of Armenia, euro transactions totalled about €6.9 million in purchases and €13.2 million in sales. The average buying rate was AMD 411.18 and the average selling rate AMD 416.13.
On the same day, about 1.84 billion roubles were bought and 828.7 million roubles were sold. Purchases and sales of 325 million roubles were carried out on the interbank market.
The other currencies group includes various international currencies. Their purchases totalled about AMD 451.4 million (about $1.24 million) in dram terms, and sales AMD 269.8 million.
Banks’ in-house purchase transactions exceeded AMD 23 billion in total, and sales exceeded AMD 29.6 billion.
Foreign currency bought by credit organisations totalled about AMD 852.7 million in dram terms, and currency sold AMD 887.4 million.
From September 7 to 13, exchange offices bought a total of $17 million and sold $20 million. The average dollar buying rate stayed within AMD 360–362 during the week, and the selling rate within AMD 363–364.
Euro transactions totalled €4.55 million in purchases and €4.50 million in sales. The average selling rate ranged from AMD 420 to 422.
Over the week, exchange offices bought 1.12 billion Russian roubles and sold 539.5 million roubles. The rouble fluctuated between AMD 4.05 and 4.17, showing relative stability.
Transactions in other currencies totalled about AMD 339 million in purchases and AMD 334.5 million in sales in dram terms.
Note: transactions with the Central Bank of Armenia and on the Armenia Securities Exchange are not included in the calculations.
