More than 70 employers presented vacancies at the job fair

More than 5,000 citizens participated in the annual job fair organised on 16 September at the initiative of the Armenian State University of Economics, who had the opportunity to familiarise themselves with the vacant positions and hiring conditions offered by more than 70 employers representing the public and private sectors.

According to information from the Ministry of Labour and Welfare of the Republic of Armenia, Minister Torosyan made a tour of the fair’s stands and spoke with employers and persons seeking work.

According to the source, the Unified Social Service of the Ministry of Labour and Welfare also participated in the job fair with a separate stand; the stand presented state employment programmes, opportunities for the development of professional capabilities and retraining, and the tools for seeking and offering work through the e-work.am platform.

According to data from the Statistical Committee of the Republic of Armenia, in the first quarter of 2026 the unemployment rate was 13.7%, against 14.0% of the same period of the previous year. The number of unemployed decreased by 7,200 — from 188,200 to 181,000 people.

However, the number of employed did not grow but also declined — from 1,159,400 to 1,137,700, that is, by 21,700. At the same time, the population outside the labour force grew by 60,100 — from 966,900 to 1,027,000 people.

The relative indicators show the same: the labour force participation rate fell from 58.2% to 56.2%, employment from 50.1% to 48.5%, and the share of the population outside the labour force grew from 41.8% to 43.8%.
